Do not leave us out of your activism. Do not leave the disabled out of your activism, we are not an afterthought.
The intersection of ableism and racism is deadly.
It’s so important to consider intersectionality and how it relates to power and privilege within our society. Who are the perpetrators of these issues? Do they receive adequate training on issues relating to mental illness and disability? Often times the answer is no, or very limited. When constructing curriculum for these job positions, we should begin to consider awareness training and what that would look like when implemented into practice.
